Prize: Public premiere for 1st Place (performance of 2nd Place award if one is selected).
Open to: Students currently enrolled in High School or Middle School between the ages of 12-18. A student who has already won the competition may not be selected as a winner for the year following their award.
Requirements
The Ethos New Music Society at the State University of New York at Fredonia announces their third annual Young Composers Composition Competition. Composers between the ages of 12-18 who have not yet graduated high school and currently residing in the United States may submit chamber works for 1-6 players. The work should be between 3-8 minutes in duration.
Performance
The first-prize winner's work will be premiered during the final spring Ethos 32nd Season concert, Past. Present. Future. on Friday, April 9th, 2010. If a second-prize winner is selected, their work will be premiered as well. The winner will be announced March 1, 2010. All entries may be considered for performance.
Submission
Please send: score; recording if available (MIDI realizations are acceptable); a sealed envelope containing an information sheet with the work's title, composer's name and brief biography, address, telephone, and email; and an SASE for return of materials.
Deadline for receipt of materials is February 1, 2010.

ETHOS LAUREATE PRIZE IN COMPOSITION
The Laureate Prize in Composition is given to the composer whose work was voted the best by the Ethos membership.
Works can be selected from any concert/recital during the school year; voting takes place in late April.
All works must be presented to the general membership; voting is anonymous. The award will be presented either at the School of Music convocation.
